Summer Training

To learn more about and register for a class click on the link (title of the class) below.  You will receive District PD credit for any technology trainings you attend. These trainings are tailored to the needs of both the elementary and secondary classrooms unless otherwise noted.  The calendar is included for your convenience.  

If a class is cancelled for low numbers or any other reason, you will be notified via a phone call and/or email. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRAINING LOCATION.  
TRAININGS WILL BE HELD IN THE PORTAGE TECHNOLOGY & TRAINING CENTER (formerly Waylee Elementary School).
Please enter from Mustang Drive.  The training center will be on your left.  
Enter through the double doors on the West side of the building facing CHS.  
You will need your key fob to enter.

Google (Docs, Blogger, Picasa, Drive, Forms, etc.)

CANCELED High School Google Docs and Evernote: This class will be taught by the fabulous Jeanna Walker and Sara Brown and will be tailored to the needs of High School teachers.  It will focus on the basics of Google Docs along with the notetaking tool Evernote.  Class will run approximately 3 hours.

CANCELED Quick Assessments with Google Docs, Flubaroo and PollEverywhere: This class will be taught by the fabulous Jeanna Walker and Sara Brown and will be tailored to the needs of High School teachers.  It will focus on using Google Forms to create self-graded quizzes and surveys.  PollEverywhere will also be explored.  Class will run approximately 2 hours.

CANCELED Blogger and Google Drive (What IS Google Drive?): This class will be taught by the fabulous Jeanna Walker and Sara Brown and will be tailored to the needs of High School teachers.  Want to create a website/blog for your classroom?  Want to learn about using Blogs with your students?  Google Blogger is perfect way to do this and Google Drive can store all your files online so you can access them from anywhere.  Class will run approximately 2 hours.

CANCELED Google Docs - Projects: Learn about ways to use Google Docs with your colleagues and students.  Share project ideas and learn a few new tips and tricks. Class will run approximately 2 hours.

Data Collection and Debriefing with Google Docs: In cooperation with Chris Palmer, Behavior Intervention Specialist, learn how to use Google Forms and Spreadsheets to collect and analyze student data, especially in regards to behavior.Class will run approximately 2 hours.

Office 2010

Office 2010 - Word: Learn the ins and outs of Word 2010 including how to use the Office 2010 ribbon, inserting objects into your documents, saving in PDF formats and emailing your documents.  

Class will run approximately 1.5 hours.

FULL Office 2010 - OneNote: Learn the ins and outs of OneNote 2010.  This is a great organizational and presentation tool for teaching with your TEC.  Class will run approximately 1 hour.

Technology Enhanced Classroom and Components

TEC Basics Training: In this class, you will learn the basics of using the Technology Enhanced Classroom (TEC).  Topics covered will be the components of the TEC along with the using the touchscreen computer and Hovercam document camera.   Class will run approximately 3 hours.

Advanced Hovercam: Explore some advanced features of the Hovercam document camera, like making videos, books for listening to reading, and taking pictures/scans.  Class will run approximately 1 hour.

CANCELED Using Technology in the Classroom Idea Sharing Session: This class is for proficient/advanced users who would like to share how they are using technology in their classrooms and acquire some new tools for their tool box from their fellow teachers. Class will run approximately 1 hour.

CANCELED Skype Projects: Learn about the possibilities of using Skype (video conferencing) in the classroom in this class.  Share ideas, learn about great resources and form partnerships. Class will run approximately 1.5 hours.

Technology Free Choice Work Session: Do you have a project involving technology that you want to work on this summer?  Do you want to work on your webpage, blog or OneNote binder?  Are you collaborating with your fellow teachers and want a space to work together with computer and U:drive access?  Would you like to come to the lab to work and have Jessica or Kelly available in case you have any questions?  If so, then this is the session for you.  The sessions will be every other Wednesday for three hours.  Sign up for as many as you like.
